My Artful Fiftieth

After much anticipation, I joined a group of artful golfers yesterday to play Pasatiempo Golf Club in Santa Cruz, CA - in an event hosted by The Shivas Irons Society. The event celebrated the Society’s 16th anniversary, with “The Secret to Golf Revealed” by guest speaker, Fred Shoemaker. Having never played Pasatiempo, this historic Alister Mackenzie masterpiece became the 50th golf course added

Artful Colorado

My wife and I just returned from a 2-week trip in our small motorhome, traveling to one of our favorite destinations - Colorado. Over the years, we’ve traveled to Colorado several times with our children on summer “hiking” vacations. One vacation was spent in the San Juan Mountains, visiting Ouray, Telluride and Durango. During another trip, we stayed in Glenwood Springs and visited nearby Aspen.

Trump Trumped in Scotland

Donald Trump’s plan to build a mega golf resort in Aberdeenshire Scotland has been rejected….er, a… Trumped.
A couple of reasons included the worry that Aberdeenshire’s coastline would be compromised by the construction of the course and the housing development which would accompany it. Another political/business conflict was that some of the land was owned [...]

Black Mesa Golf Course Review

When I used to think of New Mexico a few things came to mind. I’d think of nuclear testing and Indian reservations. I’d mostly think of Roswell, where the alien ship crashed in 1947. Golf certainly wasn’t on the radar, alien or domestic.
No longer do I think of aliens when I considering [...]

This Tuesday in my local golf league (while shooting a 68 I might add), a pal of mine told me some Michael Jordan nuggets. My pal does heating and air and has been working on MJ’s house for a while. MJ has a house up near Glenwild Golf Course in Park City. [...]

Golf in Kauai!

My wife and I traded our timeshare to visit Kauai last week. We stayed in Princeville, on the north side of the island. I brought along my golf clubs, hoping to sneak out a few times while my wife enjoyed shopping or sitting by the pool. I was able to get 4 rounds of golf in!

Black Mesa Shot Of The Day

Black Mesa Day 2
It’s 1:30am. Just got back from a local Pueblo Indian casino. We had some great steaks for dinner and I won $45 playing blackjack. I need to hit the hay for my early flight back home but I had to post this video nugget from today first.

Clarity and Confidence

I played over at The Architects Golf Club this weekend, and it was a pretty eye-opening experience for me. First of all, it’s a wonderful course. The fairways, tees and greens are all in superb shape and the rough is thick and quite penal (even for those of us with Square Grooves). [...]
