Today we will have a look at the TaylorMade-Adidas ClimaProof Storm 3-Way Convertible Jacket (wow, that is a mouthful!). This is a new offering from TM-Adidas looking to compete in the ‘I want what the tour players wear when they are in the rain‘ market.

PGA Championship Interactive Coverage

If you remember back to the Masters and US Open, I posted about the interactive coverage DirecTV had put together for those events. Not to completely come across as a salesman, the coverage is pretty neat. There is a special PGA Championship channel that displays several feeds from the course. You can [...]

Review: Crocs Ace Golf Shoes

Early last summer I purchased a pair of Off Road crocs, and they have rarely left my feet. They are quite possibly the most comfortable casual shoes I have ever owned. I always wear them to the golf course, and am anxious to slip them back on after walking 18 holes. When Crocs purchased Bite Shoes last year, my first thought was wow…when do I get golf spikes on my crocs?. Well, I did not have to wait long. Crocs quickly put together a golf shoe design, that is more than just spikes slapped onto the bottom of a traditional croc: the Crocs Ace.

Review: Power Blade

Everyone wants to add yards to their drive. You know you want to belt it 325 down the middle like Tiger. There are plenty of training aids out there on the market claiming they will add 5..10…25 yards to your drive, but most fall short in delivering on those promises. The problem generally is due to the fact that even with the greatest of training aids, you must put in the work with it to see results. So the challenge for a training aid designer is to create an effective tool that both shows results and is fun to use. Is the Power Blade the answer? We’ll find out!

Between all the live on course cameras, interactive scorecard and interviews…it was pretty awesome! Apparently it was successful enough for them to offer the same coverage during this week’s US Open at Torrey Pines. I can’t wait to check this out!

Review: Heavy Putter C2-DF

If you are a long time reader of The Deep Rough, you know I am absolutely in love with my B3-M Heavy Putter. Earlier this year, Heavy Putter released a new line of Deep Faced putters. The Deep Face raises the center of gravity of the putter, aligning it closer to the equator of a golf ball. This should result in more consistent strikes on the sweet spot of the putter face. So let’s have a look at the Heavy Putter C2-DF and see how it compares to the earlier generation Heavy Putters.

Review: TaylorMade Tour Burner

TaylorMade launch the new Tour Burner line of equipment earlier this Spring with a spirited marketing campaign. The Burner Bloodline website provides great detail and insight into this tour like line of equipment. Unlike the Tour Authentic line from Callaway, the Tour Burner series is not about bringing extremely high priced actual Tour equipment to the hands of the weekend golfer, but about bringing Tour like performance to the rest of us. Can a piece of equipment give us a ball flight like TaylorMade Staffer Sergio Garcia?

The three wheeled push cart has helped transform the task from a painful experience to an easier walk in the park. Review: 2008 Callaway Women’s Shirts

Callaway recently sent me two ladies’ golf shirts to review and I’m now a convert to this brand of clothing that I had previously shied away from. I was immediately impressed by the style and feel of both shirts and after wearing them once on the golf course, I actually put one on knowing that I wouldn’t be hitting the links that day. These shirts are not only comfortable, but incredibly fashionable as well.

Review: Gatorade Tiger

Gatorade recently has introduced a new line of Tiger Woods endorsed sports drinks, Gatorade Tiger. The new formula is nearly identical to the original Gatorade, except for 25% bump in electrolytes. The new Gatorade Tiger is available in three flavors: Red Drive (Cherry/Citrus), Cool Fusion (Lemon/Lime) and my personal favorite: Quiet Storm (Grape). This ‘Tiger Juice’ is available in two sizes, 16oz (100 calories per bottle) or 32oz.

Review: Nike Sumo Squared 5900

Square was all the rage in 2007, with the original Sumo Squared, Callaway FT-i and various other models reaching the market. The initial buzz factor was huge as everyone seemed to love to talk about super high MOI and the ultra-forgiving nature of the square driver head. Sure there were some complaints of a loss of distance and deafening sound, quieting the square head buzz a little…However, it has been over a year now, and as far as I can tell, club designers do not sleep these days. The Nike engineers have obviously been hard at work, recently unveiling their new square driver: The Sumo Squared 5900.

Review: Refine and Accelerate

Not long ago I wrote about the GyroSwing which will soon be released by SLKZ golf. They also happen to offer a few other training aid products, a couple of which caught my eye: The Refiner and Swing Accelerator. The refiner is a hinged driver which works on getting your golf swing on plane. The Swing Accelerator, on the other hand, is a weighted club which targets the distance part of your game. We will have a look at both of these devices today and see if they can help your game.
